Very playable for Irish jigs and reels. These have what they call a "warmer" tone. My ears are not the best judges anymore, but I'd say they're right. I mainly bought these because the highs produced by typical 80/20 phosphor bronze strings were causing distortion to my ears. I'm sure the strings were fine, but my failing ears need strings that don't bark.
