Gwenifer Raymond

Cardiff-born, Brighton-based guitarist Gwenifer Raymond has earned widespread international acclaim for her distinctive fingerstyle guitar work, and a style that draws from both American Primitive guitar, blues, and Appalachian folk and the landscapes, folklore, and mythology of her native Wales. Praised by The Guardian, The Observer, and Uncut, she now has a sound all her own, often described as "Welsh Primitive." A former astrophysicist and self-taught guitarist who’s now known as one of the most innovative contemporary acoustic players, Raymond has performed at major festivals across Europe and North America. Her latest album, Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark, explores the space between ancient folk traditions and the unknown in a way that only she can.
