About David Leon

When David Leon thinks about tradition and experimentation, he sees a launchpad instead of limitations. The Brooklyn-based sax player, original composer, and wildly inventive improviser draws from folkloric music in his native Cuba, as well as free jazz, and extended woodwind techniques. He’s released several acclaimed albums, collaborated with some of today's most adventurous players, and has been recognized New Music USA and the ASCAP Foundation.
