After many many years of looking, I finally found a replacement neck for my Crucianelli made 1965 Vox thinline hollowbody electric which I've owned since 1970 ( my first guitar ). The original neck was warped due to ( I believe ) it being strung with a relatively heavy set of Gretch flatwound strings ( 4th, D measures 0.033 in ) I tried a set of 10s ( D'Addario EXL110 which I use on my other electrics ) but the E and B sounded thin and buzzy like a sitar. Switching to EXL115 11s cleared up the 1st and 2nd E and B string buzziness but raised the action on the relatively weak neck ( I had already adjusted the truss rod to get just a slight bit of relief when the 10's were on and didn't dare try for more .) So I put the 10 set back on the 3rd thru 6th and effectively made my own custom set with the .011 and .014 on the 1st and 2nd.
The guitar sounds great, nice and balanced and the action is back down to the high side of normal, perfectly playable for an instrument cobbled together from 60 year old parts. Happily I searched around the internet
and found your custom string set page and found the price was
reasonable compared to buying a set of 10s and adding an .011 and .014 .

Hi there ! I'm very satisfied of my new strings set 12-54 of Nickel Wound. I play in france for a Status Quo Cover and this is exactly why I need. As you see I'm French, so if you asked me a little thing D'addario could be make better : built custom strings in south of France in their factory in ordrer to make price lower as possible (a custom string for me is the double of classic one).

This was a trial to see if a lighter gauge would help with my tendinitis and other wrist and hand issues. Not much setup difference going down from to 9's. My only regret is not knowing about custom string sets sooner!
Great service. I designed a very specific set for an alternative tuning. Using the online tool I built myself a perfectly balanced set of strings. Great sound and total comfort. Haven’t strung th up yet still on my first set of NYXL strings but they are on standby to be used next. I’m sure they will be just as awesome as the NYXL strings. I particularly like that I can customize my sets. I do wish I could purchase single strings to replace broken ones with.
