How to Choose a Marching Snare Drumhead

Marching snare drumheads have a significant impact on the sound of your drum. EVANS makes a few marching snare heads, used by some of the most successful marching bands out there—so you know you can count on them to get the job done.

To choose a snare drumhead you need to first pick a size. Your options are usually 13” or 14”, though we do also have an oversized 14” Pipe Band snare.

Once you know the size of your snare, choose your tone, feel, and response. EVANS Hybrid marching snare heads achieve greater sensitivity and a broader dynamic range while enhancing projection and durability. Hybrid marching heads boast an ultra-durable weave of high-tensile fibers, creating a unique wear-resistant texture with extended life and enhanced response. They’re available in black, white, and grey to suite your style.

Another popular marching snare drumhead is System Blue. The EVANS System Blue marching snare drumhead was designed in collaboration with Scott Johnson of the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. Featuring tonal clarity and projection necessary for a championship winning drum corps but with a softer feel, this drumhead doesn't sacrifice tone or feel.
