Clarinet reeds are made of cane, which is a type of plant with woody stalks. The cane is cut and processed to create the small wooden pieces we know as clarinet reeds.

 

2. How often should I change my clarinet reeds?

Clarinet reeds should be changed when they are no longer feeling or sounding good. Often 2-4 weeks is a good rule of thumb to check on your reed and assure it’s not too brittle, overly flexible, or generally not responding well.
