How to Choose a Snare Side Drumhead

The main factors to consider when choosing a snare side drumhead are the thickness and size. You’ll first want to be sure you have the right diameter snare side to fit your snare drum. Common snare side sizes include 13” and 14”, but EVANS Snare Sides are also available in 8", 10", 12", 15" & 16" to fit most snares. Second, you’ll want to choose a thickness for your snare side. EVANS Snare Sides come in single ply options of 2, 3, and 5 mil, which we call EVANS Snare Side 200, Snare Side 300, and Snare Side 500 respectively.
