ABOUT Jamison Ross

Jamison Ross is a vocalist and drummer that delivers messages of humanity through the medium of jazz.

A native of Jacksonville, FL, Jamison's passion for music was realized in his grandfather's church, where he learned how to present music with honest intent. Jamison began his study of music as a high school student at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. He was featured in the documentary "CHOPS" — a film which follows the school's jazz ensemble as they prepare and perform in a renowned jazz competition at Lincoln Center.

Jamison went onto Florida State University, then University of New Orleans. In New Orleans, Ross begin to tour and record with many industry elites like Carmen Lundy, Jon Batiste, and Ellis Marsalis. He also became of member of the Grammy award winning fusion band "Snarky Puppy."

In 2012, Jamison won The Thelonious Monk Jr. International Jazz Competition for his drumming. This achievement afforded him a recording contract with Concord Jazz.

His 2015 debut release, Jamison, introduced the world to his concept of rhythm and vocal melody, and garnered him a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album. His latest album "All for One" brought on more recognition, and a year of touring with Grammy award winning artist India Arie.

Jamison has a vision to bring Joy back to Jazz. He believes the power and experience of his music can inspire, heal, and reveal a deeper capacity to love.
