About Andy Wood
Andy Wood is a masterful multi-instrumentalist and genre-blending guitarist known for his blazing speed, intricate lyrical phrasing, and musical storytelling. A North Carolina-born, Tennessee-raised musical prodigy as a kid, Andy picked up numerous competitions and awards playing bluegrass on the mandolin with his touring family. He shifted to guitar in his teen years, and soon blended Nashville country, rock, fusion, swing, and jazz into a sound unique to him.
Since his breakthrough 2009 debut A Disconcerting Amalgam in 2009, Andy has released four studio albums, including the dual-disc Caught Between the Truth and a Lie, the cinematic Junktown, and his latest, Charisma (2024). His first live record, Live at the Bijou, dropped in 2019. Andy’s skill and style have earned him touring gigs with Rascal Flatts, Scott Stapp, Gary LeVox, and Sebastian Bach.
Offstage, he founded the annual Woodshed Guitar Experience in 2020, which is an immersive retreat bringing together some of the best players and learners in the world. From high-speed bluegrass runs to expressive fusion leads, Andy Wood is a once-in-a-generation talent whose playing turns technique into storytelling.
"With my acidic sweat, most strings don't survive but D'Addario always hold up on stage."
