About Ben Sloan
Ben Sloan—aka Bendy—is a drummer, producer, and multimedia artist who fuses rhythm, sound design, animation, and installation. Known for his visceral, unconventional drumming, Ben has toured and recorded with artists such as The National, Moses Sumney, Beth Orton, Mouse on Mars, Rozi Plain, Serengeti, and WHY?. His upcoming debut album, Muted Colors, brings together many of these collaborators in a genre-bending, deeply textural project. Ben has also participated in artist residencies, including The National’s Homecoming Festival, 37d03d in Berlin, and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Outside of live performance, he creates music and sound design for Emmy Award-winning films, as well as major brands and institutions like The North Face, The Smithsonian, and the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center.
“With Sensory Percussion, I can create live electronics sets that evolve naturally, something with a narrative, all through the sensors and software. It's amazing because I don't need an extra keyboard, a microphone, or a synthesizer. It's just this. If I want to use other electronics with it, I can. But there's so much you can do with just the Sensors."
