ABOUT Stephen Ahearn


Stephen Ahearn joined the Dallas Symphony in the fall of 2012. Prior to moving to Dallas, he served as the acting second and Eb clarinetist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, adjunct professor of clarinet at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, bass clarinetist with the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, and as the principal clarinetist of the Sarasota Opera Orchestra. Stephen has also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, and at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and the Chatter chamber music series. He actively teaches and performs, recently giving recitals and masterclasses at Baylor University, the University of Texas - Arlington, and the University of Texas - Commerce. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Music from the University of Richmond, and a Master of Music from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. His teachers include Todd Levy, Ricardo Morales, David Weber and David Niethamer. He is a D'Addario Winds Performing Artist and a Backun Clarinet Artist. Stephen lives in Dallas with his wife Jori, his daughter Elin, and his bulldog Lucille.
