About Andre Acevedo

Dr. Andre Acevedo is an accomplished jazz saxophonist and educator originally from the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Known for his dynamic performances and passion for teaching, he’s worked with students across the state, guiding many to placements in regional, area, and All-State ensembles. His performing credits span everything from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus Band, to cruise lines, regional jazz ensembles, Broadway productions, the American Elvis Live!: National Tour, and more. Dr. Acevedo holds degrees from the University of North Florida (B.M. in Jazz Studies), the University of Memphis (M.M. in Jazz and Studio Music), and the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (D.M.A. in Jazz Saxophone). His doctoral work explored the use of jazz solo transcriptions in undergraduate pedagogy.

A Conn-Selmer Center Stage Performing Artist and D’Addario educational artist, Dr. Acevedo plays Yanagisawa and Selmer saxophones with D’Addario reeds and mouthpieces exclusively. He currently resides in Decatur, Illinois, with his dog Bucky.

"While I love all of my D'Addario products, I have a particular joy when playing on the Venn reeds. I love not having to worry about reeds in any situation! Whether performing or teaching a long string of lessons, the reeds sound good and perform perfectly every time!"
