About Jorge Montilla Moreno
Jorge Montilla Moreno is a renowned clarinetist, educator, and composer, celebrated for his effortless technique and deep connection to Latin American music. A product of Venezuela’s El Sistema, he became the first Latin American clarinetist to record under the British label Clarinet Classics and has performed worldwide as a soloist and clinician.
A dedicated educator, Montilla Moreno has held teaching positions at Arizona State University, Longy School of Music, and currently serves as Associate Professor of Clarinet at the University of Iowa. A former Principal Clarinetist of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, he is also an accomplished composer and arranger, with works published by Woodwindiana Editions and Montilla Brothers Editions. Beyond academia, he remains an active performer and columnist for The Clarinet magazine, continuing to inspire musicians around the world.
