About Kevin Sun
Kevin Sun is a Chinese-American saxophonist, composer, and founder of Endectomorph Music, a Brooklyn-based label supporting cutting-edge improvised music. Hailed by DownBeat as “intense, harmonically virtuosic, and compositionally complex,” Kevin has released seven acclaimed albums as a leader, including the 2024 double album Quartets, and the 2021 tribute <3 Bird, which were both named on numerous best-of-the-year lists.
In addition to his solo work, Kevin has recorded with ensembles such as Mute, Earprint, and Great On Paper, and performed with artists including Adam O’Farrill, Dan Weiss, and the John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble. Internationally, he served as Artistic Director of the Blue Note China Jazz Orchestra, and frequently performs throughout NYC at venues like The Jazz Gallery, Smalls, and Joe’s Pub. A graduate of both Harvard and New England Conservatory, Kevin studied with Miguel Zenón and has been recognized as a Jerome Hill Foundation Artist Fellowship Finalist. He joined the D’Addario Woodwinds artist roster in 2024 and performs exclusively on his trusty VENN reeds.
"I enjoy the consistency and quality of D'Addario's woodwind products, which lets me spend more time focusing on making creative music and less time worrying about reeds and equipment."
