Transforming lives through music education
The D'Addario Foundation has been championing "positive change through music" since 1981. The Foundation was built on the belief that music truly can change people's lives. Not only does it enrich, inspire, and enlighten all of us, but studies have shown that music education can significantly enhance a child's development and increase performance in other academic areas. It also provides a focused, communal activity for kids during and after school, where they can learn and make lasting friendships with their peers.

Students with intensive arts involvement were 5x more likely to earn better grades and graduate from high school — plus demonstrate higher college enrollment rates.
Students in top quality music education programs nationwide scored 22% better in English literacy and 20% better in math.
The D’Addario Foundation supports over 200 music education programs, operating in 131 cities and 39 states.
To date, we’ve awarded over $10 Million to music education programs around the globe.

Like the incredible artists and musicians we support, we know that our future, our children’s future, and the future of our planet are dependent on us doing what we can to leave this world in better shape than when we found it. That’s why we continue to engineer sustainable manufacturing processes and replenish the environment, in any and every way we can.
Our Initiatives
Playback String Recycling
In 2016, we partnered with TerraCycle to launch Playback, an industry-wide string recycling program with a mission to turn waste into worth. With Playback, we make it simple for players to recycle their strings—by allowing them to simply send them back to us. So far, over 4 million strings have been recycled through Playback's efforts.
Play. Plant. Preserve.
When we learned that the drumstick industry cuts down nearly 1,500 trees a day, we created Play. Plant. Preserve., a reforestation program which brings new life to family-owned forests in Tennessee. With continued support, we can replace every harvested tree by 2043. In fact, we're already past the quarter million mark.
Removing Excess Paper
Moving from paper packaging to an environmentally friendly Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) bag has reduced waste by 75% and saved over 7 million pounds of paper since 1991.
