About Kaia Kater

Grenadian-Canadian artist Kaia Kater is known for her jazz-infused voice, sharp songwriting, and mastery of clawhammer banjo. Her latest album, Strange Medicine (2024) received acclaim by publications like Rolling Stone and The Guardian. Kaia is also a member of the Black string band New Dangerfield, which debuted at IBMA in 2023 and has an album release set for 2025 She’s also made her mark in film, winning a Canadian Screen Award for The Porter and contributing original songs to My Dead Friend Zoe (2024).
