Mark Knopfler is a British singer, songwriter, and guitarist best known as the frontman of Dire Straits, one of the most successful rock bands of the late 20th century. Growing up in Scotland, he developed a fingerpicking guitar style that became his signature sound. With Dire Straits, he achieved global fame through hits like "Sultans of Swing," "Money for Nothing," and "Brothers in Arms."
Knopfler solo career includes critically acclaimed albums such as Golden Heart (1996) and The Ragpicker’s Dream (2002). He also gained recognition for composing film scores, including the beloved soundtrack for The Princess Bride (1987). He has also collaborated with artists like Bob Dylan and Chet Atkins and earned multiple Grammy Awards.
