Jason Newsted spent 15 years on the biggest stages in the world with the biggest metal band in the world. As the bassist for Metallica during their late-80s, early ‘90s surge of popularity, he appeared on five of their most iconic studio albums, including 1988’s …And Justice For All and their breakthrough, self-titled “Black Album,” which earned six Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the band in 2009. After leaving the group, Newsted has had a restless musical career in the best way. He’s played with Flotsam and Jetsam, Voivod, Echobrain, Ozzy Osbourne, and his own Newsted project, and has collaborated with everyone from Tony Iommi and Sepultura to Gov't Mule. Today, he’s switching things up and conquering stages with Jason Newsted and The Chophouse Band, which blends rock with country, bluegrass, and American roots.
